Finding a Way Through

bulletAn accessible information service for parents of disabled children, and those who work with families of disabled children.

bullet Assist parents of disabled children to find a way through the maze of bureaucracy, information, professionals, to get to where they need to be.

bulletGive parents informed choices, more control over their lives and a better quality of life for all the family through timely co-ordinated information.

bulletParent/relative sign-posting service primarily for parents and relatives delivered by parents and relatives (Family Information Group).

Working in Partnership

There are many organisations already providing excellent information services, this project will work in partnership with them and direct families to them.

It will offer the first point of contact for parents who have newly diagnosed children, or are following up information on a specific issue for the first time.

Information

Information in itself is not always useful. It is more useful if it can meet the requirements set out below. The aim of this project is to find information that is:
bullet Accessible
bullet Jargon Free
bullet Up-to-date
bullet Accurate
bullet Right format
bullet Appropriate
bullet Timely
bullet Relevant
bullet Sensitive
